Christmas has come early for the jailbreak community this year. Completely out of the blue, a few days ago, a new untethered jailbreak, this time for iOS 8.1.1 through to iOS 8.2 beta was released. It’s called Taig and, following a thorough inspection by leading jailbreak developer, Musclenerd, it has been deemed safe and stable to use.

Not much is known about Taig at the moment, except that the jailbreak appears to have been developed by one person, not a team. Many users were suspicious of it because it bears the same name as a pirate app store that was downloaded with the Evasi0n 7 jailbreak in 2013.
Although Apple has now stopped signing iOS 8.1, the new Taig jailbreak means that everyone can update to iOS 8.1.1 knowing that they can still jailbreak their iOS devices while taking advantage of the improvements and features that Apple included with the firmware update.
If you are currently testing out the iOS 8.2 beta, the jailbreak has been disabled. According to Taig, this is because they are now waiting for the official release of the firmware and want to see if any of the vulnerabilities get patched up first. However, anyone on iOS 8.1.1 with any of the following devices can download Taig:
- iPod Touch 5
- iPad 2
- iPad 3
- iPad 4
- iPad Air
- iPad Air 2
- iPad Mini
- iPad Mini 2
- iPad Mini 3
- iPhone 4S
- iPhone 5
- iPhone 5C
- iPhone 5S
- iPhone 6
- iPhone 6 Plus
